Décor Themes Lookbook for Sialkot Events

Marigold, pastel, white-and-gold, neon-sign, minimalist and kids' themes: where each one works, what to watch for and how it affects the price.

A colour theme is the first decision that shapes everything else in a function: the flowers, the fabric, the lighting temperature and even what your guests wear in photographs. This lookbook walks through the six themes families in Sialkot ask us about most, with honest notes on where each one works, where it struggles and how it affects the price. The images are design concepts and style ideas to start a conversation, not photos of finished jobs, and every theme can be adapted to your own venue.

Pick a theme, then read the venue guide to see how it behaves on a rooftop, lawn or in a hall. Starting prices for each function are on the pricing page.

Marigold: the classic desi mehndi look

Marigold (genda) is the warm orange-and-yellow backbone of Pakistani mehndi and mayun functions. Strings of flowers are hung as curtains or woven into a backdrop frame, and the colour is strong enough to carry a stage without any other decoration. It photographs well in daylight and glows under warm fairy lights in the evening.

Where it works. Rooftops, courtyards and home lawns, where the open sky and string lights already suit the mood. It is also the most forgiving theme if the venue walls are plain or slightly uneven, because the flowers hide the surface behind.

Watch out for. Fresh marigold wilts in direct afternoon heat and drops petals, so for a daytime function we usually recommend a blend of fresh flowers on the couple's seat and high-quality artificial strings for the wider backdrop. Colour clash is the other risk: bright orange next to a magenta outfit can fight, so share the bride's outfit colours with us early.

Budget. Marigold and artificial florals are the affordable base of our mehndi packages, which start from PKR 25,000, while mayun setups start from PKR 18,000. Going fully fresh adds cost, and the figure depends on quantity.

Pastel: soft florals for day functions and showers

Pastel schemes use blush, mint, lilac and cream in place of strong orange. They suit bridal showers, baby showers, engagements, nikkah ceremonies and modern mehndis where the family wants something gentler. Pastel looks best in good light; under dim yellow bulbs the colours can turn muddy, so we plan the lighting around the palette rather than adding it last.

Where it works. Indoor halls, drawing rooms and shaded lawns. In a drawing room a pastel backdrop with a sofa and a few lanterns can transform the room without moving the furniture.

Watch out for. Pale fabrics show dust and marks, particularly on a rooftop. If the function is outdoors, ask about a backdrop that can be wiped or replaced before guests arrive. Pastel florals also look flat in photos unless there is depth, so we layer different flower heights and greenery.

Budget. Bridal and baby showers start from PKR 12,000 and nikkah or engagement setups from PKR 20,000. Delicate fresh blooms in pastel shades raise the price faster than marigold because quantity and freshness matter.

White and gold: elegant evenings and reception stages

White flowers, ivory fabric and gold accents are the safest choice for a walima, a nikkah or a formal dinner. The look is calm and photographs cleanly against almost any outfit colour, which is why it is common for receptions where many families mix. Candles, lanterns, gold stands and warm white lights complete it.

Where it works. Banquet halls and marquees with a defined stage, and evening events where lighting is controlled. It also works on a home lawn at dusk.

Watch out for. White is unforgiving. A crushed cushion, a stained carpet or a droopy flower shows immediately, so the setup team spends more time steaming, checking and adjusting. Real gold-toned metal stands are heavier than they look and need a firm floor. Outdoors, wind can lift sheer white drapes, which we weigh or anchor.

Budget. Walima and barat stages start from PKR 45,000. White-and-gold with fresh white roses sits towards the Classic or Premium end because of the volume of flowers needed to look full.

Neon-sign: the modern accent

A neon sign is less a theme than a statement piece: a glowing “Mehndi”, the couple's names or a short phrase set against florals or plain drapes. Families like it because it makes the stage instantly recognisable in photographs and videos. Warm white and soft pink are the most common colours; they sit comfortably with marigold and pastel alike.

Where it works. Anywhere there is a stable wall or frame to mount it and a power point close by. It is at its best after sunset, since in strong daylight the glow almost disappears.

Watch out for. Lettering is quoted per request, and long phrases cost more and need a wider backdrop. Check spelling in both English and Urdu script before it is made. Our neon sign guide goes into the trend in more detail, and the props and add-ons page explains how signs are quoted with a package.

Minimalist: fewer elements, better finish

Minimalist décor is for people who find a full floral wall too busy. It might be a single arch, a neat linen backdrop, a row of lanterns and one strong seating piece. The effect depends on precision: straight lines, even spacing and clean lighting. With few elements, any imperfection stands out, so the finish matters more than the quantity.

Where it works. Small drawing rooms, dinner parties, small nikkah ceremonies and corporate gatherings. It is often the best answer when the room is modest and a large stage would overwhelm it.

Watch out for. Minimalist does not automatically mean cheap. Fewer items can still involve custom fabric, bespoke lettering or fresh flowers of high quality. Where the budget is tight, a well executed single backdrop in a Basic package is often a better use of money than a thinly stretched large stage. Birthday and anniversary setups from PKR 10,000 and PKR 10,000 respectively are natural fits.

Kids' themes: playful, safe and quick

For children's birthdays, setups usually centre on a character, colour or hobby: a space theme, a jungle, pastel rainbow or a favourite cartoon. Balloons, backdrops, a cake table and a small play corner are typical. The practical points matter as much as the look: low tables, secure stands that cannot be pulled over, no loose small parts near toddlers and a layout that leaves room to run.

Where it works. Homes, lawns and community halls. Timing is usually afternoon, so natural light helps, but sun on balloons can cause them to pop or sag, so shade is worth planning.

Watch out for. Character licensing and exact artwork vary, so we work from a theme and colour direction rather than promising an exact copy of a specific brand design. Kids' party setups start from PKR 10,000; plain birthdays start from PKR 10,000. See the kids' party page and our theme ideas guide.

How to choose between themes

  • Start with the time of day. Warm, saturated colours hold up in daylight; pastel and white need controlled light to look their best.
  • Look at the venue, not just the pictures. A rooftop wants colour that competes with the sky; a banquet hall already has its own lighting and ceiling.
  • Consider the outfits. Send us colours of the bride, groom and parents so the backdrop complements them.
  • Match flowers to the weather. Fresh flowers wilt in heat; artificial and marigold-based options are affordable and hardy. Our fresh vs artificial guide compares them.
  • Combine carefully. A neon sign on a marigold wall is a proven pairing; mixing three bold colours rarely is.

Whatever you choose, tell us your date, venue and guest count on WhatsApp and we will suggest a package and a firm price before you pay anything. A small advance of PKR 3,000–20,000 confirms the date once you are happy.

Frequently asked questions

Can you copy a theme from Pinterest or Instagram?

Yes. Send the picture or video on WhatsApp and we will quote a price to recreate the look, adapted to your venue and budget.

Are the pictures on this page real jobs?

No. They are labelled design concepts or style ideas to show direction. We are collecting our own team photos and will publish them when they are ready.

Which theme is cheapest?

Marigold and artificial-floral setups are the most affordable base. Fresh flowers, large stages and heavy lighting increase the price. Starting prices are on the pricing page.

Can I mix two themes across mayun and mehndi?

Yes. Families often book both together and we reuse the base structure with a colour change, which can lower the total cost.
